I had a pretty good morning at life drawing today. I threw away a few disasters but salvaged some lessons from today's experience.
I'm beginning to utilize some of the advice of Richard Schmid from his book Alla Prima in identifying edges and blocking in values while also incorporating line drawing to identify my proportions and add some flourish here and there.
I feel like I'm starting all over again after so long in front of Photoshop and Maya.

Hi Ray,
I'm an illustrator who also lives in Kirkland. Saw your link on the Masters Illustration Class message board. (I've been working on a huge project for the past number of months and have only just run across this workshop. Too cool! I'm trying to decide whether to be totally intimidated or not).
Rebecca Guay says there is one opening left, and I'm probably going to register, but wanted to talk with someone who is going...
If you'd be willing to chat about it a bit, please send me an email? tlchang1@hotmail.com
Thanks so much!

Ray, here's a voice from the way-back past...do you do commissions? I want to take a photo of a most unusual orchid flower that looks like a dragon/phoenix already and have it drawn out to look even more like a phoenix for a tattoo. It's symbolic of my 14-year difficult fight with two chronic pain diseases.
Anyway, what I am looking for made me hope that you would be interested as I can't imagine anyone else capturing it like you would.
If you are at all interested, visit my blog to contact me via email.
Thanks and congratulations on your success and your beautiful family.
great lifedrawing. I can sympathize with your computer woes (;
Laura! Great to hear from you, although I'm sorry to hear about your struggle with CPD. I will do commissions on occasion, although I'm really tied up through summer. With raising Jack + full time work + contract work + illustration workshop I'm sleeping about 3-4 hours collectively per night. I basically don't want to promise something I can't deliver on...:) Please stay in touch and be well. Namaste.
Beautiful work, Ray! Is there no stopping you!@!?!?
BTW, cute kid is right in your new post!!!
Thank you Dan. That really means a lot coming from you. Take care my friend. -Ray
