Wow! Hey thanks 10ske:) We'll see how this one turns out. Basically I'm having to juggle work, a newborn, freelance and fun projects like this. I want to finish it before I lose momentum and have more pressure to do other stuff, so hopefully this weekend I'll get some time to work on it. I'll likely write a small postmortem describing a few goals and techniques I had in mind doing this piece.
Thanks a lot for this mini tutorial!!.. What version of photoshop do you use??.. I am kind of lost with the first part because I don't know where are the palet colors windows that you use..
I'm using CS2 at home. The palette is actually rather worthless to me right now. I'd suggest ignoring it. I got it from the downloadable NoxIzMad tutorial at CA.org. It's a very specific palette for him and I quite frankly find it rather limited. If you can tell from the video I barely even touch it, preferring to mix my colors on the canvas itself and sample variations when needed. I've a few rough palettes that I've made and even some bit mapped palettes to import directly into layers that I use sometimes. Mostly I make up a limited palette at the beginning and then do a sort of 'glazing' process later when I'm nearly done.
